Biography[]
From The Peak, S.W.O.R.D.'s Earth orbiting command center, Abigail Brand detected an alien space craft entering Earth's atmosphere without authorization. Abigail Brand quickly realized who the ship belonged to and why he was there and teleported to New Salem, New York. The ship contained an intergalactic bounty hunter named Death's Head who had teleported to a concert to kidnap Lila Cheney, a pop star with the power of intergalactic teleportation. As Abigail Brand got to the concert she met with the X-Men, who were working security, and held Death's Head at gunpoint. However, Fabian Cortez sneaked up behind Lila and enhanced her powers to the point that she unwillingly transported herself, the X-Men, Abigail Brand, and Death's Head to an unknown alien planet.
A short while later Abigail Brand and the others were attacked by a group of mutant Brood called the X-Brood. Abigail helped the others fight them. However, the X-Brood leader, Openmind, telepathically communicated with the Abigail Brand and the X-Men and learned that they were not enemies. The X-Brood told them that they were being hunted. Abigail Brand swore to protect them since it was her duty as director of S.W.O.R.D. Storm contacted Gladiator for their help in protecting the X-Brood. However, they soon discovered that the Shi'ar hated the Brood and saw them as a threat. Abigail Brand and the X-Men defended the X-Brood against Gladiator. The X-Men then took Gladiator's teleporter and they, Abigail Brand, Death's Head, and the X-Brood returned to Earth.
