    Martin Landau, the Academy Award winning actor who played Scorpion on the first two seasons of Spider-Man, has passed away at the age of eighty-nine. He died Saturday afternoon at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after a short hospitalization where he suffered unexpected complications.


    Born on June 20, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, Landau has had a long and illustrious career in film and television. He originally worked as a cartoonist for the New York Daily News before quitting to pursue a career in acting. He went to the and Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio studied alongside Steve McQueen.     Today marks the thirtieth anniversary of the premiere of RoboCop. The film follows a Detroit street cop who is killed in the line of duty, resurrected into a cyborg by a greedy megacorporation, and seeks out his murderers when his memories resurface. It was originally going to be an adaptation of the comic book anti-hero Judge Dredd and eventually evolved, becoming influenced by the Marvel Comics hero Rom who makes a small appearance during the convenience store robbery. Because of its relatively modest budget, the film was a massive box office success and hit with critics.     Today marks the thirtieth anniversary of the premiere of Jaws: The Revenge. The fourth and final film in the Jaws series features the last members of the Brody family fighting off a killer great white shark that crosses the ocean to track them down. The film was a spectacular failure, is considered one of the worst films of all time, was the death of the once beloved franchise, and was nominated for numerous Golden Raspberry Awards while only winning one for visual effects.     At this year's D23 Expo Walt Disney Animation Studios released the opening titles to the upcoming series Big Hero 6. Following the events of the film of the same name, the series follows Hiro and Baymax as he attends the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology while joining his friends Honey, Wasabi, GoGo, and Fred in defending the city from supervillain threats. The series has no official date for the premiere but is scheduled for Fall of this year.

    Marvel Entertainment announced the latest installment in their LEGO video series. Their newest segment will be called Lego Marvel Super Heroes - Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat. Few details were given about the upcoming feature. They did say that it will involve Thanos, Ronan, Nebula, and the Ravegers seeking to possess the Build Stone, a powerful and creative relic, while the fate of the galaxy depends on the Guardians of the Galaxy.

    Marvel Entertainment released details on the third season of Guardians of the Galaxy. This season will be titled Mission Breakout. If that sounds familiar, it's because that is the name of the ride at Disney's California Adventure and the series will take some inspiration from the events of the movie-based ride. In this season, the Guardians will be framed by Collector and be forced to travel to new universes while exposing a secret invasion.

Offering an intense and often difficult viewing experience to watch, the six season series received generally positive reviews and was well received by fans. Produced by The Walt Disney Company, the film follows a computer programmer who finds himself inside the computer databases of his former company and must team up with digital versions of his friends to stop a takeover of the company.
