    Today is the seventy-eighth birthday of Dorothy Catherine Fontana, better known as D. C. Fontana. She is best remembered for her work on the Star Trek franchise starting with the original series along with numerous other works of science fiction. She was one writer on the Silver Surfer episode "The Forever War".

    Power Rangers Released

    Today is the release of Power Rangers. Based on the popular television and film franchise, this reboot follows five teenagers as they are granted powers and the ability to control enormous robotic Zords by Zordon in order to battle the forces of Rita Repulsa seeking to take over the world. It features the talents of Fred Tatasciore as Rita's monster Goldar and her minions the Putties.

    Today is the release of CHiPs. The movie is based on the popular 1977 television series about a pair of California Highway Patrol officers. The film follows two motorcycle cops as they fight against an ex-cop and his hitmen. It features the talents of Maya Rudolph as Sergeant Gail Hernandez.

    15 Years of Blade II

    Today is the fifteen anniversary of the release of Blade II. Set two years after the first, the film follows Blade as he teams up with his vampire enemies to stop a species of mutated vampires that threaten both humans and vampires. This features the last film appearance of Abraham Whistler, who was written for the films but first appeared on Spider-Man. It was a big box office success though received a mixed critical reaction. The film features the talents of Ron Perlman as vampire Bloodpack leader Reinhardt and Norman Reedus as Blade's traitorous ally Scud.

    Today is the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda. This is the fourth entry in the popular video game franchise about exploring the galaxy. In this game, the player is either Scott or Sara Ryder who is part of an initiative to explore the Andromeda Galaxy while finding new aliens, enemies, and secrets to uncover. The game features the talents of Clancy Brown as Ryder's father Alec, Ali Hillis once again returning as Dr. Liara T'Soni, along with Gregg Berger, Trevor Devall, and Yuri Lowenthal doing additional voices.

    Today is Saint Patrick's Day, a cultural and religious celebration held on this day, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Marvel Comics most prominent Irish hero is the mutant and occasional X-Man Banshee as well as his cousin and rival Black Tom Cassidy. Both most prominently appeared as brothers in the X-Men episode "Cry of the Banshee". In the comics, Banshee has a daughter named Siryn who has yet to appear in animation.

    Today is the release for Beauty and the Beast. The film is a live-action remake of the 1991 Academy Award nominated animated film from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Released by The Walt Disney Company, it is a "tale as old as time" as it follows Belle, a peasant in a French rural town, who becomes trapped in an enchanted castle and falls in love with its monstrous ruler.

    25 Years of Carnage

    This month marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first full appearance of the Spider-Man villain Carnage. Carnage made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #361 after a brief cameo in #360, though his alterego of Cletus Kasady debuted the year before in #344. He is one of the most dangerous villains in comics books. Cletus was a homicidal psychopath who saw bloodshed as "the ultimate freedom," but after bonding with the spawn of Venom he became significantly more dangerous. His threat was so extreme he forced rivals Spider-Man and Venom to team up to fight him. His most famous act was during the Maximum Carnage story, and video game tie-in, where he recruited numerous psychotic villains requiring dozens of heroes to fight them. …
