    Marvel Entertainment has announced the premiere date for the fourth season of Avengers Assemble, to be retitled Avengers: Secret Wars. The series will return Saturday, June 17th with a two-part premiere at 11:30 AM ET and 12:00 on Disney XD. The Avengers will feature new members Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Vision. Following the events of Ultron Revolution, Tony Stark is trapped in another dimension and the rest of the team must find a way to bring him back while fighting a new Cabal.

    Today is the fortieth anniversary of the release of Star Wars, first in theaters on May 25th, 1977. The film follows the adventures of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo as they become embroiled in an intergalactic conflict and must find a way to destroy a weapon that can destroy entire planets. The beloved space epic began one of the most successful franchises ever including thirteen other films and five series with another in development. Directed by George Lucas, Star Wars launched the career of Mark Hamill as Skywalker and captured the imaginations of millions.

    15 Years of Insomnia

    Today marks the fifteenth anniversary of the release of Insomnia. A remake of a 1997 Norwegian film, it follows two big city detectives who travel to a small town in Alaska to solve a mysterious murder and must outwit the killer while battling insomnia since the sun doesn't set. The film was a hit with critics and at the box office. It features the talents of Tasha Simms, who played Mrs. Connell whose daughter's murder sets off the events of the film.

    Collider went to the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas and found the first two posters for Sony Pictures Entertainment's Spider-Man animated film. The Expo is where vendors can get a sense of the upcoming features from studios. Sometimes these films will not even have an official title or even production artwork yet. At times these are not even meant for mass consumption and may never be seen in theaters.

    The site captured photos of two posters for the upcoming feature. Both feature a spider logo in red and blue graffiti style. One is by itself while the other has the words "Winter 2018" above with "The Animated Movie" underneath.     Yesterday marked the thirtieth anniversary of the premiere of Ernest Goes to Camp. The film follows the titular Ernest P. Worrell, a kind yet accident prone man, who must try to save a summer camp while working with delinquent children. The film was a box office success and moderate hit with critics. It was the second of ten films to feature Ernest and the first to use his name in the title. The film features the talents of John Vernon as Sherman Krader who heads the mining company that wants to destroy Camp Kikakee and Scott Menville as troubled camper Crutchfield.

    Entertainment Weekly has information on Marvel's upcoming series of shorts following the adventures of Ant-Man. The mini-series, officially titled Ant-Man, is set to premiere June 10th and June 11th on Disney XD. The Scott Lang Ant-Man, voiced by Josh Keaton, will team up with Wasp and Hank Pym to fight evil while sometimes taking the time to help his daughter Cassie. Similar to Spider-Man: The New Animated Series and Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, the story uses the events of the first Ant-Man film as the background for the story.

    RIP Rich Buckler

    Artist Rich Buckler has passed away at the age of sixty-eight following a battle with cancer. Buckler broke into comics in the late 1960s and began working for Marvel Comics in the 1970s. He worked on a number of series including Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and Avengers as well as numerous DC Comic characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. He is perhaps best remembered for helping to create the cyborg Deathlok and living mummy N'Kantu.

    25 Years of Alien 3

    Today marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the release of Alien 3. The third film in the famous franchise, it faced a long and difficult development process for first time director David Fincher. It came out to polarizing reviews, underperformed at the box office, and Fincher later disavowed the film refusing to talk about it. The film does have a cult following and an extended cut restoring many original elements was well received. The film features the talents of Lance Henriksen reprising his role from Aliens as the damaged android Bishop as well as a second Bishop android, though the extended version and some promotional material suggests this was supposed to be the original designer of the Bishop android.

    Today is the release of Injustice 2. The video game is a sequel to the 2013 hit Injustice: Gods Among Us. Set in an alternate DC universe, he game follows Batman as he and his allies try to rebuild the world following the fall of Superman's regime but when new threats emerge the dark knight may have to team up with the man of steel to save the world. Born on this date in 1944 in Modesto, California, Lucas is a writer, producer, and director who has worked on THX-1138, American Graffiti, The Godfather, the Indiana Jones series, and most famously is the creator of the Star Wars franchise. He formed the Lucasfilm production company, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company, as well as the special effects company Industrial Light & Magic and sound company Skywalker Sound.
