    A report suggests that Marvel Animation is bring their three currently airing series to an end. According to the animation industry blog Tomb of the Cartoon Monkey Skeleton, those working on Avengers Assemble, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man have been told that their work is coming to an end. Animators have been told that once their work on the current episodes is done over the next couple of months that there may not be more on the way. Reportedly the shows are going on hiatus and crews are being laid off.

    J. K. Simmons Turns 63

    Today is the sixty-third birthday of J. K. Simmons. The Academy Award winning actor is perhaps best remembered for his role as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man film trilogy. He reprised the role on Ultimate Spider-Man, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Avengers Assemble, and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.. More recently, he has appeared in Whiplash for which he won the Oscar, Terminator Genisys, Kung Fu Panda 3, Zootopia, La La Land, Patriots Day, and James Gordon in DC's Cinematic Universe starting with Justice League.

    200 Years of Frankenstein

    This year marks the two-hundredth anniversary of the release of Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, released on January 1st, 1818. Written by Mary Shelley, novel is considered the first work of science fiction. While in Geneva, Shelley heard about an experiment using electricity to cause a dead frog to move. Later that night she had a dream about a man reanimating a dead corpse. She formed the story the next day and eventually published the work anonymously when she was twenty. Her name didn't appear with the book until it was published in France in 1823.

    Today is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Premiering on January 3rd, 1993, the series was a spin-off of The Next Generation. The series helped established one of the first multi-media universes airing concurrently with the remainder of the The Next Generation seasons and films and later alongside its own spin-off Voyager. Titled DS9 for short, it was the first series in the franchise to not have the involvement of original Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, who only gave his blessing for the series shortly before his death.

    Happy New Year's Day. We've made it through the most recent election and now we face a new year. This year we look forward to the release of Sony Pictures Entertainment animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Marvel Animation's Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors.

    In addition, this year marks the tenth anniversary of a small wiki that is centered on Marvel's animation projects in all its forms.

    A Look Back at 2017

    Well my fellow true believers, the year is coming to a close and another is just around the corner. It's that time when we look back over what happened over the last twelve months as we move forward.

    The divisive Ultimate Spider-Man series came to an end. At one-hundred four episodes, it is the most numerous animated series based on Marvel Comics, though it only lasted four seasons meaning it did not last as long as X-Men and Spider-Man.

    Marvel replaced that series with the latest wallcrawler series Spider-Man while Walt Disney Animation Studios began Big Hero 6, the follow-up to the Oscar winning film. Big Hero 6 was renewed for a second season before the first even began.
