More of the Inner Circle's plans are revealed. Magneto uses the Sentinels to destroy Genosha. The Future X-Men have seemly lost, but all lost hope disappears when an old friend rescues Xavier and the X-Men.
Story[]
The X-men are grounded by rising Sentinels in Worthington industries, as the MRD arrive to arrest them.
Meanwhile in the Inner Circle mansion, Jean attempts to leave and find the Professor, despite Emma's warnings that he is a coma. Jean doesn't cope and believes she'll find a way. This forces Emma to restrain her mentally, Shaw commands her and the Cuckoos to force Jean to break mental barriers that Xavier installed if the Phoenix's emergence was left unchecked. Inside Jean's mind, Jean is forced to open barriers by Emma Frost impersonating Charles Xavier, as she opens metal doors that are the barriers that the Inner Circle speak of, Jean and Xavier go to open next ones. Unknown to Jean, the rest of the Cuckoos follow them.
Suddenly, Jean is back in her old neighborhood when Scott first met her, speaking Scott. Somehow he is able to speak to Jean mentally, not knowing the X-men are still inactive. A Stepford Cuckoo tries to impersonate Cyclops, but fails when Jean notices a flash of thunder behind the avatar's body shine on the Cuckoo.
Jean creates a mental backlash wave, forcing Emma and the Cuckoos to be blown away mentally and physically in the mansion.
When Shaw asks what happened, Emma believed Jean and Cyclops somehow have a mental connection. She decides to confront the situation in the flesh, only to be stopped by Selene the Black Queen. Selene believes Emma has more affections for the X-Man than Jean does, regardless Shaw gives her time to leave while the Cuckoos continue the work.
A shocked Emma learns that the Inner Circle plans to control the Phoenix as a delusional Sebastian Shaw believes it to be controlled. Emma warns them all that controlling the Phoenix is suicide. So Shaw gives only a few minutes to hurry. As she leaves, the Cuckoos continue without Emma.
In Worthington Industries, the X-Men namely Wolverine discover the MRD has came to retrieve them, but are suddenly are saved by Emma Frost who only takes Cyclops because she found Jean. Wolverine leaves Beast in charge while he follows Emma Frost. Meanwhile Mystique who impersonated Robert Kelly, trashes the computers to the Sentinels, insuring that the X-men or human will not interfere with Magneto's plans.
In the future, Xavier's mind is still being scanned by the Sentinels, by the scanning is stopped by none other than Wolverine.
Wolverine along with four evolved X-23's destroys the Sentinel Units including the Cyborg Colonel Moss with ease, freeing the X-Men including Xavier, Wolverine and Xavier question what happened after their last connection in the astral plane. Wolverine explains that he was at fault of the Sentinel Uprising and lost of Jean Grey once again, but believes this time he can change it.
The reunited Future X-Men along with Vanisher, who reveals Marrow was the reason for the capture, stage a plan to find Master Mold, as Mold has finally found the majority of Mutants left on earth that weren't captured. Luckily for them, Wolverine has been hunting Master Mold since the future began and has found its true location.
In Genosha, Magneto orders Lorna to stay in room, not even for second to leave.
The Sentinels in the present day arrive to Genosha and start demolishing the city and massacring countless mutants. While Magneto watches, an enraged Scarlet Witch questions Magneto's purpose in this folly of how this will change in the future. Unity said Magneto, he thinks a chance of being united will gather them the power and strength needed to commence a counterattack against the humans. Scarlet Witch still is horrified that lives are being taken to prove a point, but he believes it the death of a few mutants to ensure the coexistence for Mutants in the rest of world to be necessary for this new future he take control of. Scarlet believes he's gone too far, not even caring for the city of Genosha.
In the Inner Circle Mansion, Emma and Cyclops alone defeat some of the Inner Circle. Emma is left in an ultimatum when Selene drains Cyclops's life, forcing Emma per Shaw's commands to return into her Diamond form.
Back in Genosha, the Sentinels continue their senseless rampage, until Magneto finally takes control by reverse engineering their brain chips and into obeying only his commands. "Foolish humans, building an army of men, to attack the master of magnetism." says Magneto as he prepares control them.
As Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver watch from afar, Quicksilver snarks that "Magneto and he" made the proper adjustments for the preparation to control the Sentinels, to which Scarlet Witch scolds him for admitting Magneto still cares about him.
As Magneto descends and orders Wanda to prepare the Genosha army to invade the cities. Instead she leaves and thinks his underling of a son should orchestrate the events. Magneto begs Wanda to not leave his side and admitting in front of Pietro that she is the only one he can trust.
Pietro then wants to command the troops, but then is cast aside by an irritated Magneto to have him only to get Wanda back on his side.
Magneto and the Sentinels then fly and arrive to New York City. Without Master Mold, Kelly, Trask, Zane or the MRD hoisting the line, Magneto is free to do as he pleases, the Sentinels begin to turn New York into a wasteland, while the humans attempt to flee.
