Chip
Real Name Unknown
Alternate Identity Chip
Powers and Abilities Computer Expert
Allies Punisher

The man known only as Chip is a computer expert and partner to the vigilante Punisher.

Biography[]

Chip's history is unknown. At some point he came across Frank Castle and the two decided to team up to take down criminals. He most likely takes his name from a microchip.

He suggests weapons for Punisher, provides information, and sometimes controls the Battle Van.

When news reports claimed that Spider-Man was attacking people around Empire State University, Chip talked Punisher into capturing the webhead. His reasoning being that it would help Punisher seem like a hero instead of the villain the media portrayed him as. Spider-Man eventually mutated into Man-Spider and kidnapped Punisher, who was later saved by Kraven the Hunter.

The two later returned to New York City to stop Green Goblin and found out that he was Harry Osborn after initially thinking that Peter Parker was the villain.

Background[]

Chip was voiced by Robert Axelrod.

First version to be voiced. Currently the only animated version of the character.

In the Comics[]

His real name is David Lieberman.

His full codename is Microchip, and he usually goes by Micro.

He was a legendary hacker. After hacking the computers of a mobster, he retired.

His nephew followed in his footsteps and began hacking, but was killed after hacking into Kingpin's computers. He first met Frank while investigating the murder and the two became allies.

At one point he is kidnapped by Kingpin and his pinky finger is mailed to Frank as blackmail. He is released when Frank kills a rival gangster.

Eventually, he and Frank have a falling out with Micro feeling Frank has lost sight of their original mission. He tries to get a former Navy Seal to become the new Punisher. The two meet in a safehouse where a firefight occurs. A rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agent hunting vigilantes fires a rocket killing Micro. Frank leaves wondering if he would have killed Micro himself.
