The cross is a symbol used by God as that of good. It is counter to the evil symbol of the pentagram. Because of its holy associations, it causes serious burns to vampires and destroys them. Thus, it is used as a both a weapon and shield by vampire hunters and those in Transylvania. Crosses are commonly found in churches and cemetery.
