Fox Kids was a Fox Broadcasting Company's programming block dedicated to youth-oriented cartoons. It originally aired the series X-Men, Solarman, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, The Avengers: United They Stand, and Spider-Man Unlimited.

History[]

The block was created to compete with The Disney Afternoon. It originally aired for half an hour on weekdays and three hours on Saturdays. It eventually grew to three hours on weekdays and four hours on Saturdays.

By 2001, Fox felt they no longer needed the block as they were competing with the "Big Three" of American Broadcasting Company, National Broadcasting Company, and Columbia Broadcasting System. They were also losing ground in children's programming to ABC and Kids' WB. Fox eventually sold the rights to the show to The Walt Disney Company.

Other shows the network broadcast include Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Bobby's World, Tom & Jerry Kids, Beetlejuice, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures, Taz-Mania, Little Dracula, Batman: The Animated Series, Eek!
