Loki is a supervillain and the brother of Thor.
Biography[]
Centuries ago Thor imprisoned Loki inside a mystical tree. To break this curse someone had to shed a tear for him. However, Loki knew that no one in Asgard would cry for him. In the present Loki, who had gained control over the tree, manipulated the tree to make a leaf fall on Heimdall's eye, so that he shed a tear setting Loki free.
Shortly after being freed from the tree, Loki went to Midgard to get revenge on Thor. Loki found Thor and challenged him to a duel to be fought in the sky. As they rose into the sky Loki was able to hypnotize Thor. However, Thor was later able to break free from Loki's control. Thor took Loki back to Asgard where Odin forbade Loki from ever returning to Earth. However, Loki ignored Odin's warnings and went back to Earth to kill Thor. Loki fought Thor again and lost.
When Loki was returned to Asgard he was sentenced to eternal imprisonment by being chained to a giant boulder. The chains were made of uru which was the same metal that Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, was made of. Loki used his magic on Mjolnir which caused it to fly out of Thor's hand and to Asgard. As Mjolnir struck the chains, they broke and freed Loki. Thor knew that Mjolnir could have only gone to Asgard, so Thor went there to search for it. Thor was able to get his hammer back and Odin forbade Loki from following Thor to Earth.
Loki later gave supernatural powers to a human fortune teller named Sandu and had him cause trouble on Earth. However, Sandu was defeated by Thor.
Loki sent Enchantress and Executioner to Midgard to defeat Thor but they failed. After Enchantress and Executioner were defeated, Loki tricked Odin into going to Earth to end Thor and Jane's relationship. In his absence, Odin left Loki in charge of Asgard. To make sure that Odin would never return Loki set Surtur and Skagg free and had them attack Earth. However, Surtur and Skagg were defeated by Odin, Thor, and Balder. Odin then returned to Asgard to punish Loki for his treachery.
Loki once again plotted to get rid of Thor. Loki, disguised as an old man, went to Dr. Donald Blake's office and tricked Blake into giving him his walking cane that turned into Mjolnir. Loki then kidnapped Jane Foster. However, Donald Blake was quickly able to get his real walking cane back and turn into Thor. Thorn then followed Loki back to Asgard where they fought. However, Odin arrived and put a stop to their fighting. Loki showed Odin that Thor was in love with Jane, a mortal. Odin then decided that because of Thor's forbidden love for a mortal woman he had to face the Trial of the Gods. Thor and Loki were transported to a land called Skornheim where they fought. However, while they were fighting, Loki told Thor that he had sent Enchantress and Executioner to kidnap Jane. During their fight on Skornheim, Thor and Loki were confronted by Yagg. Thor defeated Yagg but Loki was able to return to Asgard first. Despite this, Odin knew that Loki won by cheating and declared Thor the victor.
Loki gave Carl Creel the power to turn into any substance he touched. Loki then sent Carl, now calling himself Absorbing Man, to New York City to fight Thor. However, Thor was able to defeat Absorbing Man.
Loki also awakened the Destroyer and it attack Thor. However, Loki learned from the Norn Queen that centuries Odin had decreed that anyone that awakened the Destroyer would be put to death. Knowing that he was doomed if the Destroyer was not stopped, Loki began to hope that Thor was victorious against the Destroyer. Thor later defeated the Destroyer.
Later, Loki bailed Mister Hyde and Cobra out of jail so they could help him get revenge on Thor. However, Thor defeated Hyde and Cobra. Loki also manipulated Tomorrow Man into killing Thor, but this failed as well.

In "Trapped by Loki", Loki states that Thor is his half-brother meaning Odin is their biological father, but they have different mothers. In the comics, Loki is the son of Frost Giants and was adopted by Odin.
Loki appeared in the Marvel Mash-Up shorts that aired on Disney XD.
