Nick Fury is the director of the top-secret peace keeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D.. He is the former commander of the Howling Commandos during World War II.

Biography[]

Apparently he shaved the beard at some point

During World War II, he rose to the rank of Sergeant and led the Howling Commandos and fought with Captain America and Logan.

Spider-Man first encountered Nick Fury when Peter Parker and J. Jonah Jameson were abducted, when Fury needed Jameson’s help to catch The Chameleon.

Nick Fury with Spider-Man

They met several times again afterwards, when The Cat was abducted from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s prison, and when Electro took control of New York City’s power supply. Electro eventually toppled S.H.I.E.L.D., and Spider-Man and Nick Fury never crossed paths again.

Fury did not trust Spider-Man with his many secrets and his agents captured him when he got near to them. Nick Fury asked them to be gentle to Spider-Man and he did not press any charges.

However, Nick Fury was one of the only other crime fighters that was appreciative of Spider-Man's efforts.

Fury often called upon both Tony Stark and Iron Man to help him out when he couldn't, either by using their resources and vast amounts of technologies, or when S.H.I.E.L.D. was unable to perform tasks themselves, such as investigating foreign affairs.

Fury believes that Iron Man died

Although Fury and Iron Man respected each other a great deal, they didn't always get along, and teamed up just as often as they fought each other. One such instance was when Walter Stark returned, long presumed dead. They were played against each other by A.I.M., and later teamed up to fight the organization they both despised. They were both also aware of Justin Hammer's criminal activities but despite numerous attempts, neither of them was able to prove it.

Fury confronts Spider-Man

When Spider-Man attempted to steal a shuttle to hitch a ride to Counter-Earth, Fury attempted to stop him before he realized that Spider-Man was right, and allowed him to carry on with his mission.

Alternate Version[]

Another Fury

In an alternate future ravaged by the Legacy Virus, Nick Fury listened to a speech with G. W. Bridge and War Machine.
