Sandman, also known as Flint Marko or William Baker, is one of Spider-Man's major rogues. Sandman never appeared in the Marvel Animated Universe because the rights to the character were tied up in a Spider-Man film being developed by James Cameron at the time. Electro was also going to be used in the film, but after the project fell through the character appeared on the series. Sandman remains the only major Spider-Man villain not to have appeared on Spider-Man. His role was filled by Hydro-Man, who has similar powers but with water.
