Steve Englehart (born April 22, 1947) is a comic book writer. He has been credited for writing the character of Star-Lord on Lego Marvel Super Heroes – Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat, and Guardians of the Galaxy. He developed several episodes for the proposed Captain America series before it was cancelled.

He has also used the pseudonyms John Harkness and Cliff Garnett.

Biography[]

For Marvel Comics, he created the characters of Agamotto, Mantis, Shang-Chi, Valkyrie, the Wendigos, Zzzax, and the Roxxon Energy Corporation.

For DC Comics, he created Kilowog, the New Guardians, Joker Fish, Doctor Phosphorus, the Green Lantern Corps of Earth, Silver St. Cloud, and Rupert Thorne.

He has been credited on other works including Batman: The Animated Series, Street Fighter: The Animated Series, G. I. Joe Extreme, NightMan, Batman Beyond, Atlantis: Milo's Return, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, DC Super Hero Girls, and Captain Jokes Parrot's Finding the Lost Atlantis. He has been credited by Marvel Studios for all of Star-Lord and Mantis's Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances including Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame as well as for characters in the upcoming Shang-Chi.
