Today marks ten year anniversary of the release of the live-action film adaptation of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the first in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, each featuring the talents of Thor voice actor John Rhys-Davies. Ironically, Norse mythology heavily influenced the writing of the original series of books.

Rhys-Davies played Fellowship member Gimli the Dwarf in all three movies and voiced Treebeard the Ent in the later two parts The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The series was met with overwhelming good reviews, over two billion dollars in profits, thirty Academy Award nominations, and seventeen Oscar wins.
