The future of The Spectacular Spider-Man is not certain. Following Disney's purchase of Marvel, rival studio Sony has relinquished all television rights to Spider-Man, including animation, in exchange for "some concession vis-a-vis the live action Spider-Man features." This could mean that the series will end leaving room for another Spider-Man series if no other studio, including Marvel, picks it up. Or it could mean that the embargo on non-Spider-Man characters will be lifted allowing more characters to appear should another company continue to produce it. [140] The Super Hero Squad Show video game's fate is also uncertain. While other Marvel video games currently in production are not being affected, THQ has yet to release a statement. Though given SEGA's and Activision's statements it is unlikely the game will have troubles. [141]
