Today marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the premiere of Jurassic Park. Based on the bestselling novel, the film follows a group of scientists who invited to a preview of a new theme park/zoo featuring genetically engineered dinosaurs, only for a saboteur to cause the dangerous creatures to run amok. It was a landmark film for special effects with praise focused on practical effects combined with groundbreaking computer effects.
The film was a hit with fans and critics. It became the highest grossing film of all time, holding the record for four years. It won numerous achievements, including three Academy Awards. It's success lead to four sequels.
The screenplay was written by David Koepp. It features the acting talents of Wayne Knight as programmer Dennis Nedry, who's greed and selfishness leads to the tragic events. Special thanks was given to the director's friend George Lucas.
