Today is the twenty-fifth anniversary of "Encounter at Farpoint", the series premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The beloved series lasted seven seasons for one-hundred and seventy-six episodes. The series revitalized the franchise eventually spinning off into three other series as well as four theatrical films.
The series featured the talents of Majel Barrett-Roddenberry as the computer voice and Lwaxana Troi, Jonathan Frakes as First Officer William Riker, LeVar Burton as Chief of Engineering Geordi LaForge, Michael Dorn as Security Chief Worf, Brent Spiner as the android Data, and Dwight Schultz as engineer Reginald Barclay. Malcolm McDowell went on to star in the first film.
