45 Years of Plato's Stepchildren

Today is the forty-fifth anniversary of the original airing of the Star Trek episode "Plato's Stepchildren". While mistakingly famous for the first interracial kiss on television, the episode actually features the first interracial kiss between a fictional white man, Captain Kirk, and fictional black woman, Nichelle Nichols' Uhura, on a scripted television series.
