Today is the eighty-fourth birthday of actress Nichelle Nichols. Born on this date in 1932, Nichelle is most famous to the world as Uhura in the Star Trek franchise, having played the characters in the original series, subsequent animated series, the first six feature films, and several video games. She was involved in one of the first interracial kisses on television, perhaps the most famous one, and she was praised by civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. for her role. She is known to Marvel fans as the voice of Miriam, mother of Blade, on Spider-Man. In honor of her birthday, Nichelle joins today's This Week in Marvel podcast.
