A United States federal judge sided with Stan lee and dismissed a five year-old lawsuit by Stan lee Media Inc. This appears to be the end to a decade worth of litigation throughout New York, Colorado, and California regarding the rights to characters such as Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Spider-Man.

The company formed in 1998 when Lee had a falling out with Marvel Entertainment, but went bankrupt in 2001. Lee eventually reached a settlement with Marvel and his property but SLMI shareholders were upset at the loss of the intellectual property. This eventually resulted in a lawsuit in California.

Judge Stephen Wilson dismissed the lawsuit because the matter had already been judged in Colorado and New York. SLMI will probably make an appeal, but representatives acknowledge that their only hope was with Judge Wilson siding with them.
